Dog Sense

Dogs have amazing senses. Everyone knows that a dog’s sense of smell and sight is much better than the average person. Most people probably do not know that dogs have another amazing sense in which they can sense a chemical change in a human’s body. If you have an animal, such as a dog, you will notice that when you are not feeling well they tend to stick by your side more than usual. There are women that believe their dogs can sense elevated hormones in their bodies.

I heard a story once about a dog that saved his owner’s life. The story was about a man who had epilepsy. His canine companion was highly trained. As his companion the dog never left the man’s side. His dog was trained to make notice of a heightened chemical change in the man’s body. One day they were on the train on the way into the man’s work. His dog started barking at him and kept getting louder and louder. Normally when this happened he would just get to place where he could lie down and he would be safe, but he noticed the dog was acting much more anxious than normal. He immediately went to the hospital. The man had a Grand Maul Seizure that day. The doctors believe that he would have died if he were not at the hospital during the seizure. The man’s dog was his hero and saved his life.

This is just one example of how dogs are heroes. You hear stories everyday about rescue dogs and how they save people’s lives. Animals live by instincts and most of the time they follow their instincts. People would be better off if they followed their instincts more often.
