Pet Food Poisoning
The recent pet-food poisoning incidents are really very alarming and distressing. I believe that pet food makers are largely to blame for they carry the sole responsibility of enforcing quality control over their products and ensuring the safety level of their merchandise. But now they have broken our trust and even cost us considerable financial costs and emotional stress. Pets are part of the family, sometimes even valued more than actual family members, and it is very heartbreaking to see them weak, sickly, and being fed thru a tube. Worse, the death of a beloved pet can be truly devastating and could become a difficult thing to accept, knowing that it could have been avoided early on in the first place.
We all know that table/people food isn’t very healthy for our pets, which is why we give them these specially-processed food to meet their nutritional needs. But since the poisoning incidents, I believe that pet food sales will definitely see a decline. Who can pet owners trust now, knowing that slip-ups like these can be made even by major pet food manufacturers like Menu? Right now, I’m leaning towards just feeding my dogs homemade meals from scratch. Sure, these meals might be less nutritious, but at least I can be sure they are clean and 100% safe to eat.
